西銀座の「きゆぺる」の二階で会つた。

とにかくその座はザワザワしてゐた。

勿論、月曜日には飲み過ごしの後、銀座の酒場で、乱暴を致し、その翌日は心佗しく、独りでゐるに絶えられず、而もその銀座の酒場に一緒に行つた、津濃といふ友人の所へどうも行つてゐたく、勝手なこととは承知しながら、出掛けて行つて、ぐづぐづしてゐた。

此処は銀座の裏通りのカフェー、卓子の上で扇風器は、哀しげな唸りをつづけてゐる。

大体何か充ち足りた心なり環境なりがないからだ、といふやうに癇癪まぎれに思つてみることもあるが、仮りにどんな環境が降つて湧いたつて、その変化の当座こそ充ち足りた気持を招来しもこそすれ、慣れてしまへばやつぱりそれなりに暗い時が来るなら来ようといふ風にしか思へないんだ。

で、「今日明治座に行けばゆける」と思つた。

本を売つて一円五十銭ばかり出来ると、明治座の見料が出来た。
